Size Guide: How to Find Your Perfect Fit

by Kimberly Min on August 18, 2026

Buying Ugg boots online can be tricky. Should you stick to your usual size, or size up?

Because Australian Shepherd Ugg styles feature different shapes, fits and sheepskin linings, the best size can vary depending on the style you choose.

Here’s our guide to help you find the right fit.

Why does Ugg sizing feel different?

Many Australian Shepherd Ugg boots feature a sheepskin wool lining and insole. The natural wool is soft and plush when new, so your boots may initially feel snug.

As you wear them, the wool naturally settles and compresses, creating more room inside the boot.

This means a fit that feels slightly snug at first can become more comfortable over time. However, your toes should never feel cramped or pressed against the front of the shoe.

When Should You Size Up?

For classic and mini Ugg boots, heavily sheepskin-lined styles and platform boots, we generally recommend considering one size up.

The natural sheepskin lining feels plush and snug when new, but it will gradually soften and settle with wear. Sizing up can also be a good option if you:

  • Prefer a little extra room
  • Have wider feet
  • Like to wear thicker socks
  • Are between two sizes

A new pair should feel comfortably snug, but never painfully tight or restrictive around your toes.

When Should You Choose Your Usual Size?

For slippers, mules and other open-back styles, your usual size is generally the best choice. These styles have a more relaxed fit, so sizing up may cause your foot to move around too much.

For sneakers and flats, we also recommend starting with your usual size. These styles have a construction that is closer to a regular shoe, rather than the snug fit of a traditional sheepskin-lined Ugg boot.

What If You're Between Sizes?

If you're between two sizes, we generally recommend choosing the larger size for enclosed or heavily lined styles. For more open or lightweight styles, your usual size may be more suitable.

The most important thing to remember is that every style fits a little differently. Always check the sizing recommendation on the individual product page before ordering.
